About the Work
Behind this canvas lies another buried layer. For ten years, I’ve painted over my own work—sealing past stories beneath flat gray before building the surface back up.
It’s a physical reflection of how Black history is systematically covered up. Stories aren't just forgotten; they are actively painted over.
The final layer uses my Dazzel style and the Scintillating Grid illusion as a defensive shield. Your eyes have to fight the flickering optical noise to see what's actually there. That effort is the entire point. The history is still breathing underneath—you just have to look past the illusion.
